Screening and Panel: The Right to Read

The Right to Read shares the stories of an NAACP activist, a teacher and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.

A panel discussion will follow the screening with:

  • Jenny Mackenzie, Emmy-Award-winning documentary filmmaker

  • Tanisha Brandon-Felder, Shoreline School District Director of Equitable Leadership, Pedagogy and Family Engagement

  • Karen Kline, National Board Certified Teacher in Library Media with over 25 years of experience working in school libraries.

Sponsored by Friends of the Renton and Skyway Libraries. Registration not required. Reasonable accommodation for people with disabilities is available by request. Email access@kcls.org at least seven days before the event. Automated closed captioning is always available for online events.
