What Makes The SBC Unique?
Our community-centered approach allows us to listen, empower, be inclusive, and respect our participant's time. We apply free, professional resources toward the individualized needs and dreams of the business owner.
We're building from our community's historical needs, current expressed needs, and best practice research. Skyway businesses and entrepreneurs inform the SBC, and we will continue to work in partnership with our business community to help build a thriving Skyway.
How the SBC Started
In 2021, the community, Skyway Coalition, White Center CDA, and Comunidad formed a partnership called United Community Led Economy (UCLE). Together, we passionately advocated for King County to invest in the Economic Alliance Program for Black, Indigenous, people of color, and marginalized small businesses in unincorporated King County. The Skyway Business Collective is a result of this advocacy. The partnership between community, Skyway Coalition, White Center CDA, and Comunidad was initially called the Unincorporated BIPOC Alliance, but we have since updated the name to UCLE.
