Skyway Coalition x People’s Economy Lab: Skyway Anti-Displacement Workshop Series
Over the past few months, we’ve hosted four workshops as part of our “Skyway Anti-Displacement Workshop Series”, a new community learning space developed in partnership with People’s Economy Lab! This series was designed to support leaders, organizations, and residents (past and present) who want to strengthen local strategies to combat displacement, make development more equitable and build shared community wealth.
Workshop #1: Building the Foundation — Understanding Community Wealth Building & the CDA Model
In our first workshop, we grounded ourselves in Skyway’s anti-displacement history, current realities, and the opportunity presented by the CDA (Community Development Association) model.
Workshop #2: Community Wealth Building and Shaping the Vision for Skyway
In workshop two, we explored Community Wealth Building as a framework for equitable economic development.
Workshop #3: Mapping Skyway’s Anti-Displacement Landscape and Shaping the Role of a Skyway CDA
Across the series, we've explored the Community Development Association model, studied Community Wealth Building, and mapped current affordable housing and anti-displacement projects in Skyway.
Workshop #4: From Learning to Community Power: Building Skyway’s CDA Strategy Together
In our final session of the Skyway Anti-Displacement Workshop Series, we brought together what we’ve learned and have begun shaping the next phase of Skyway’s community-led anti-displacement strategy.
In this session, we shared key themes gathered from community members and partners, reflected on emerging priorities, and discussed the role a future Skyway CDA can play in protecting affordability, strengthening community ownership, coordinating partners, and building long-term community power.
Stay tuned for future workshops that will continue to build our collective understanding of anti-displacement tools.
